Strategy implementation: Taking stock and moving forward

Strategy implementation (SI) is a significant managerial, and organizational challenge as many practitioners struggle to make strategies actionable achieve intended results. Moreover, there no unified body of research on SI. This problematic for academics aiming contribute research-based knowledge implementation. To remedy this problem, we draw the strategy-as-practice perspective conceptualize SI particular type ‘strategy work’, manifest in activities, actors, tools through which strategy executed. conceptual framework allows us synthesize fragmented literature into five practices: structure process matching, resource monitoring, framing, negotiating. We show how these activities operate at different levels involve actors tools. With its emphasis what managers (and other people) do within specific structural, temporal, material arrangements, offers exciting opportunities future research.
